Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) Work
Landscape Analysis Report on Intimate Image Abuse (IIA)
The upcoming landscape analysis report, developed in partnership with FCDO, DSIT, and the Global Partnership against TFGBV, nations, reveals concerning trends in technology-facilitated intimate image abuse, particularly highlighting how generative AI has lowered barriers to creating and spreading harmful content while examining the varying effectiveness of platform responses, third-party tools, and government interventions. Early findings indicate that while various actors play crucial roles in mitigating online abuse, significant gaps remain in the tools and responses available, especially in addressing the accelerating challenges posed by AI-generated content.
TFGBV Harms Taxonomy
This taxonomy provides a structured framework that helps technology platforms identify, categorize and address gender-based violence by mapping abuse patterns, impacts, and recommended interventions. The taxonomy is currently in Beta, with active collection of feedback from industry, civil society, academia, and the public before its formal launch.
IIA Resource Chatbot
Emerging from our Intimate Image Abuse Landscape Analysis with FCDO, we’re developing a simple chatbot prototype to better understand how victim/survivors navigate support services. While potentially offering a practical tool for connecting people with resources, the prototype development process itself helps validate our research findings about gaps in existing support systems, and adapt and iterate the prototype for different country contexts.
Local Workshops About IIA
Our workshops in Lagos and Bogotá (February 2025) will bring together survivor advocates, support services, and digital rights experts to ground-truth our research, understand regional variations in resource access. and map local support ecosystems. This prototype represents both a practical step co-developed with local partners toward supporting survivor/victims and a methodological tool for understanding their experiences more deeply and discussing potential partnerships with key local stakeholders.
